        The Schiess name has been associated with precision machine tools since 1866 when Mr. Ernest Schiess founded the company in Düsseldorf, Germany.  The current Schiess SMTCL is located in Aschersleben, Germany and builds large precision machine tools for customers throughout the world.

        The Schiess product line consists of large vertical turning and milling machines for work pieces that are in excess of 80”(2m) diameter weighing at least 30,000 lbs (15t). The Vertimaster series of vertical turn/mills range in configurations from simple two-axis turning machines to multi-axis gantry or bridge(portal) machines with both plane and turning tables.

        The Horimaster series of horizontal ram-type traveling column milling machines offers milling capacities from 70HP (53kW) to 120HP (90kW) in five different ram sizes  handling work pieces up to 240”(6m) in height.
